Arthur Levertov is a professional chess player and friend of Benny and Cleo. He makes his first appearance in the sixth episode of the series, Adjournment, with Wexler and Cleo when the three of them go to visit Benny's apartment in NYC and meet -- for the first time -- Beth. Beth was staying with Benny to prepare herself for the Paris Tournament under his supervision. There the five of them organize a little party where Beth challenges Benny, Hilton and himself simultaneously at speed chess and she repeatedly defeats all of them. Cleo tells Beth that Arthur and Wexler dissuaded her from committing suicide some years prior, and this is how they met for the first time.
Arthur and Wexler appear again, in the last episode End Game, in Benny's apartment, where, with all Beth's friend they formed the squad that helped her during the final match with Borgov. In the end, we see them celebrate her victory with the others.
